April Books

5 Apr

Oh my goodness.

Oh my goodness.

I just finished A Farewell To Arms.

Oh my goodness.

I have no words so I’ll just leave you with Bradley Cooper’s out-of-this-world performance and my favorite quote from the book:

“Maybe…you’ll fall in love with me all over again.”
“Hell,” I said, “I love you enough now. What do you want to do? Ruin me?”
“Yes. I want to ruin you.”
“Good,” I said. “That’s what I want too.”

April Books:

1. The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald (Prepping myself for Leo, obviously)

2. The Mysterious Benedict Society by Trenton Lee Stewart

3. The Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy by Douglas Adams

What are you reading this month?

Ooh, I’ll put A Farewell to Arms on my list for this month. I also plan to reread The Great Gatsby this month – I realize we read (or were supposed to read) so many great books in high school, and I was too busy with a million other things to give them the true attention they deserved.

Last month I read The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, I Think I Love You, and River Secrets.

End of March I had Spring Break and I devoted it to reading some Madeleine L’Engle books I had never read before – children’s books, yes, but I feel like her characters struggle a lot with ideas about death and God and they are very interesting. I read The Joys of Love, The Moon By Night, An Acceptable Time, but I think I enjoyed A House Like a Lotus the most. There were some interesting, mature topics in there and her female leads – while always rather innocent – are intelligent and deep.

I also read Me Talk Pretty One Day by David Sedaris, he’s very funny and I enjoyed it. I have his Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim sitting on my nightstand, waiting to be read next.

Oh, and I reread Matilda. Can I just say I love having so much more time to sit and read now? Jeff is always studying, so I have lots of time to myself. Plus we have the best little sunroom at our new place that is the perfect reading room.

I love perfect reading rooms. And you’ve inspired me to make May a Madeleine L’Engle month.
